JOB - PRODUCTION MANAGER - BLYTH

Production Manager
Blyth Festival Theatre, Blyth Ontario
The Blyth Festival is currently searching for a candidate to fill the
seasonal position of Production Manager. This position reports to the
General Manager and to the Artistic Director and oversees and supervises
all
activity that relates to the technical aspects of the theatre including
staffing and scheduling for all productions. The contract will start in
late April 2008 and conclude in early September, subject to change.
In 2008, the Blyth Festival presents a repertory summer season of four
new
Canadian plays. The Blyth Festival takes place in Blyth Memorial Hall, a
municipally owned 444 seat theatre. There are two rehearsal halls, one
of
which functions as a studio theatre, and ample backstage space for
repertory
changeovers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Oversee budgets for individual productions and production overhead
expenses, including tracking of expenses throughout season;
* Plan and maintain the production schedule for the season and schedule
build times for carpentry, prop and wardrobe shops and stage crews;
* Hire and coordinate production department seasonal staff (in
co-operation
with artistic director and general manager);
* Ensure that all production personnel are well trained and versed in
current safety practices;
* Financial reporting for all production-related expense reports;
* Co-ordinate and supervise all activities in the theatres and shops;
REQUIRED SKILLS:
* Extensive background in all aspects of technical theatre;
* Proven management experience and skills;
* Strong team player;
* Experience with budgeting and some bookkeeping background;
* Ability to assist with set changeovers;
* Valid driver=B9s licence
