JOB - HOUSE TECH/ASSISTANT TECH DIRECTOR - TORONTO

House Technician / Assistant Technical Director - AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY
Full Time, 8-month contract (with opportunity for further extension) -
$580.00 / week
Factory Theatre is seeking a Full Time House Technician / Assistant
Technical Director for a seasonal contract position within the
Production Department. The House Technician / ATD will be working as a
team member with Factory's Production Manager and Managing Director to
oversee the implementation of the Factory Theatre's season productions
and rentals. This position will require evening and weekend hours.
Key areas of responsibilities:
* Primarily the operation of Factory's Mainspace Theatre.
Including supervision of crew, maintenance of equipment, and operation
of productions under the supervision of Factory's Production Manager and
Technical Director.
* The operating of shows for the duration of a performance run or
rental in the Mainspace Theatre.
* Assist with the load-ins, set-ups and strikes in all performance
spaces.
* In conjunction with the Production Manager oversee all lighting
and sound level sessions, onstage rehearsals, and previews.
* Assisting in the coordination of all facility rentals and space
bookings, and internal facility usage.
* Other duties related to the successful production of Factory
Theatre's 2007-2008 season as they arise.
The responsibilities listed above address the key duties of this
position. The Managing Director or Production Manager will occasionally
request additional responsibilities of the successful candidate,
however, they will not be unreasonably assigned.
Professional Qualities and Skills
The ideal candidate will have at least 2 to 3 years experience as a
theatre technician or Technical Director, be comfortable working with
and directing groups of technicians and artisans, has excellent
communication skills and is highly organized.
* Candidate must be a hard-working and motivated individual with
an ability to self-direct and as well as work well
with supervisors and peers.
* Technical experience (lighting, sound, head technician) in a
theatre, performing arts centre or educational institute.
* Experience operating theatre lighting and sound equipment
* Experience with video projection systems is an asset
* Ability to problem solve under pressure while maintaining a
friendly demeanour.
* Good organizational skills including the ability to work
independently and set priorities
* Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
* Valid driver's license is an asset
* Should have valid first aid certification
