Job Posting - GENERAL MANAGER, Green Fools Theatre (Calgary)

Incorporated in Calgary in 1991, Green Fools Theatre is a
not-for-profit, artist-driven performance society that now reaches tens
of thousands of audience members each year through performances,
community events, festivals and creative training, locally and
worldwide. We explore physical theatre techniques through full-scale
puppet and mask productions, street theatre, and corporate and festival
roving. We also teach physical theatre to youth and adults through
workshops and outreach programs. 
 
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager is responsible
for the direction of the administrative, promotional and audience
development of the company. She/he will work closely with the Artistic
Director and in conjunction with the Financial Manager in steering the
company. The General Manager will foster relationships with public and
private funders, audiences and other stakeholders. She/he provides
office management support and acts as an advocate of Green Fools
Theatre.

Specific duties include but are not limited to office administration,
grant preparation, marketing, client relations, client and artist
contract negotiations/preparations, venue rentals, audience and
volunteer development, community outreach, strategic planning and
logistics coordination (travel, touring, bookings).

The ideal candidate will have an arts administration degree or arts
administration experience; strong interpersonal and organizational
skills; the ability to work autonomously and to take initiative; good
knowledge of the Alberta and Canada theatre industry; excellent computer
skills and phone manner.

The General Manager must be prepared to assume a leadership role with a
variety of projects ranging from fundraising events to arts advocacy to
office organization.

This is a full time position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with
experience.
