CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - VANCOUVER

The Playhouse Theatre Company, Vancouver is pleased to announce a Call
for Submissions for our upcoming production of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE,
Book by Don McKellar, Music & Lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison.
The production will be directed and choreographed by incoming Artistic
Managing Director Max Reimer and Lloyd Nicholson will be the Musical
Director.
Relevant Dates:
AUDITION DATES: Mid-July 2008
Rehearsals begin: October 27, 2008
Opening: November 22, 2008
Closing: December 27, 2008
We welcome submissions from strong singer / dancer / actors.
Those invited to audition will be asked to come with sheet music and
sing with an accompanist. Please prepare a song of your choosing from
the musical theatre repetoire.
We are auditioning for the roles in the Character Breakdown below:
MRS TOTTENDALE: Female, 50-70, fun matriarch
SERVANT / REPORTER - Male, Strong singer-dancer, member of chorus, any
age
TRIX the Aviatrix - Female, African-Canadian, strong singer-dancer, any
age
ROBERT - Male, 25-35, plays the dashing groom with a toothpaste ad smile
GEORGE - Male, 25-35, strong supporting man, the Best Man
FELZEIG - Male, 35-55, nervous plotting producer, long-suffering
companion to Kitty
KITTY / COURTESAN - Female, 25-40, ambitious chorus girl
GANGSTER 1 & 2 - Male, 25-45, Character actors, shorter stature an
asset. "an early example of the typical Broadway gangster: full of
word-play and stylized movements, not very intimidating"
ADOLPHO / EMPEROR - Male, Latin lothario, expressive, comic
JANET - Female Lead, 25-35, glamorous show-girl, the bride who's giving
up the stage for love, Strong Singer-Dancer-Actor
DROWSY - Female, 30-50, Strong comedic abilities
UNDERLING - Male, 30-50, Sarcastic, dry wit, could have British accent
The Role of the Man in the Chair has been cast.

Those selected for an audition will be contacted.
There is a copy of the script available to read at the Production
Centre.
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
