CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS - TORONTO

Burning Passions Theatre is now accepting submissions for the upcoming
workshop and production of "The Body Politic" by Sarah Casselman,
directed by Alexandra Seay and produced by Laurel Smith. The workshop
will take place in the fall of 2008, with the production following in
March-April of 2009.
Synopsis: Anna, a young singer/songwriter, struggles to overcome a
series of dehabilititating diseases. Using experimental sound/ vocal
manipulation, poetry, song and movement.
We are casting 2 women and 3 men for the following roles:
Anna (20s) - frail in body but not in spirit (actor/singer/songwriters
encouraged to apply)
Old Woman (60s) - dying in hospital
Mother (40-60) - Anna's mother
Darcy (20s) - Anna's cowardly boyfriend
Doctor (40s) - male, conservative
Televangelist (30-40) - male, TV personality
Matt (20s-30s) - male, Anna's closest friend
All actors must have strong movement skills (although a dance background
is not necessary). All candidates should prepare one contemporary
monologue (max. 2 minutes). Candidates for the role of Anna will also
be asked to prepare a selection of text from the play.
Auditions will take place on April 19 and 20, 2008.
Please submit your head shot and resume no later than SATURDAY, APRIL
12TH by email to alexandra.bodypolitic at gmail.com, Attn: Alexandra Seay,
Director. No phone calls please. Only those selected for an audition
will be contacted.
Actors of all ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
We will be applying to CAEA to work under the Indie policy for this
production.
