From September 15, 2008 to March 15, 2009

The Canadian Conference of the Arts is looking for a dynamic
intern/researcher who will assist its editorial team with research and
analysis of cultural policies. The CCA is a notforprofit organization
and is the national forum for the arts and cultural community in Canada.
It is guided by a Board of Governors which is elected by its membership.
The National Director steers a team of dedicated and hardworking
individuals and advisors. The intern will conduct research to support
the cultural policy analysis work of the Canadian Conference of the
Arts' editorial staff. This will involve writing reviews of articles and
other publications, as well as issue analysis summaries of
documentation, and historical analyses relating to cultural policy
issues which the staff requires further information on. The CCA's
research priorities are the following:
* cultural rights
* the creative economy in Canada
* the role of civil society in the development of public policy
* cultural diplomacy
The intern will be encouraged to work on these topics in a timely
manner, according to the needs of CCA research staff. As well, the
intern will be given the task of developing and updating teaching tools
pertaining to cultural policy.
He or she must have the following:
- a BA in arts administration, communication, public administration, or
in a related area
- a demonstrated interest in the area of arts and culture
- a demonstrated ability to research and integrate material
- excellent oral and written communication skills in at least one
official language and a working
knowledge of the other official language
- the ability to work on many files simultaneously and to manage time in
response to work
priorities
- the ability to work as part of a team
Basic knowledge of public policy and of the arts and culture sector, as
well as a demonstrated commitment to the values, vision and goals of the
CCA, will be considered an asset.
Location : Ottawa
Salary : $12.00 / hour, 35 hours / week
Period : September 2008 - March 2009 (6 months)
