2009-2012 CTA SENT TO MEMBERSHIP FOR RATIFICATION
------------------------------------------------------
Canadian Theatre Agreement (CTA) ratification packages have been mailed
out to Equity members in good standing who worked under the CTA during
the term of the last Agreement.
The negotiated deal between Equity and the Professional Association of
Canadian Theatres (PACT) does not include any changes to the material
terms in the 2006-2009 CTA except for a monetary package which provides
for 0% in the first year, 1% in the second year and 2% in the third year
of the three-year agreement.
Additionally, minimum stand alone fees and other monetary amounts
(additional services, overnight rest penalty, driving allowance and per
diem etc.) will increase by 3% for the term of the Agreement, and per
diems for Theatre for Young Audience (TYA) productions will finally be
brought into sync with regular touring per diems by 2012.
PACT and Equity have agreed to extend the current 2006-2009 CTA until
Sunday, August 23, 2009. All new rates will only go into effect on
Monday, August 24, 2009, following a successful ratification.
Members may read more about the negotiations for the 2009-2012 CTA and
see the negotiated provisions and fee tables online in the members only
zone at www.caea.com.
A ratification ballot, detailed explanation letter and a 2009-2012
minimum fee table booklet are included in the ratification package
mailed to the eligible voting membership. Any eligible voter, who does
not receive a ballot by July 27th, is also encouraged to contact
Equity's National Office.
In order to be sure your ballot is received in time to be counted, mail
your completed ballot not later than Friday, August 7th, 2009. Only
ballots received in Equity's national office prior to 5:00 p.m. EST on
August 20th, 2009 will be counted.
Results will be announced as soon as possible after the ballot count on
August 21st, 2009.
Equity members who are currently working away from home or who have
recently moved and not yet updated their mailing address with the
