EQUITY ELECTION NOMINEES ANNOUNCED

The final list of nominated candidates for Equity's 2009 elections is
now posted online at
www.caea.com/EquityWeb/NewsAndEvents/News/2009/2009EquityElections/2009n
omineeschart.aspx. 

The 2009-2012 election nomination period is now closed.

Equity's President Allan Teichman, speaking on behalf of Council,
expressed the Association's appreciation to the nominated candidates: I
would like thank the more than eighty members who put their names
forward for candidacy at the Council and CPAG levels across the country.
It has always been a defining aspect of Equity that its governance
structure is comprised of active and dedicated members, and the coming
term promises to be no different in that regard.

Election ballots will be mailed to those constituencies where the slate
of candidates is sufficient to require it on September 14, 2009, and the
results will be announced on October 30, 2009. To ensure continuity, the
current Council and CPAGs will stay in place until the new Council takes
office at the end of November.

As in each election cycle, there are a few positions for which no
nominations were received.  Council's policies include detailed
provisions for filling vacant seats, and that will be a top priority for
us in the new term. Our mandate is to represent the membership in all
disciplines and regions, and we will continue to live up to that
standard.

Council wishes all candidates in the contested regions the best of luck,
and encourages all members to vote when the ballots are circulated in
September.
