2010 - 2013 CANADIAN OPERA AGREEMENT UP FOR RATIFICATION BY EQUITY
MEMBERSHIP

Equity has successfully reached a tentative deal with the Canadian Opera
Company (COC) for the renewal of a three-year Canadian Opera Agreement.

The proposed changes are now subject to ratification by the affected
Equity membership. Ratification packages, including a ratification
ballot and a copy of the proposed changes to the 2010 - 2013 Canadian
Opera Agreement(COA), together with detailed explanatory notes, have now
been mailed to Equity members in good standing who worked under the
Agreement during the 2007-2010 term.

The COC and Equity have agreed to extend the current 2007-2010 COA until
July 31, 2010. All negotiated changes will be retroactive to July 1,
2010 following a successful ratification.

The proposed increases in minimum fees are 2% in the first year, 2% in
the second year, and 2.5% in the third year. 

Several areas of concern to the membership were addressed during the
negotiations, most notably the recent experience of working nine days of
performance between free days. The appropriate scheduling of costume
fittings for the Chorus outside of rehearsal hours was discussed, and a
new process has been proposed to ensure that they are scheduled at the
mutual convenience of the Artist. The Association also made significant
headway in the areas of photo and video use by the Artist and by the
Engager, particularly in respect of creating an internet presence.

Equity members who are currently away from home or who have recently
moved and not yet updated their mailing address with the Association
should contact Equity's National Office for further information.

Any eligible voter who does not receive a ballot by June 23, 2010 is
encouraged to contact Equity's National Office for assistance.

In order to be sure your ballot is received in time to be counted, mail
your completed ballot not later than Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Only
ballots received in Equity's national office prior to 5:00 p.m. ET on
Wednesday, July 21 will be counted.

Results will be announced as soon as possible after the ballot count on
Thursday, July 22, 2010.
