2010 - 2013 OPERA AGREEMENT UP FOR RATIFICATION BY EQUITY MEMBERSHIP

Equity has successfully reached a tentative deal with the Opera
Agreement producers (Calgary Opera Association, Edmonton Opera
Association, Manitoba Opera Association, Opera Hamilton Inc., Opera Lyra
Ottawa, Pacific Opera Victoria and Opera Atelier) for the renewal of a
three-year Opera Agreement.

The proposed changes are now subject to ratification by the affected
Equity membership. Ratification packages, including a ratification
ballot and a copy of the proposed changes to the 2010 - 2013 Opera
Agreement, together with detailed explanatory notes, have now been
mailed to Equity members in good standing who worked under the Agreement
during the 2007-2010 term.

The proposed increases in minimum fees are 1% in the first year, 2% in
the second year, and 2.5% in the third year. 

One of the most significant highlights of this Agreement is that Equity
was able to resolve the issue of rehearsal scheduling, and confirm in
the Agreement, the common practice of scheduling rehearsal in a maximum
of two separate calls of not more than three hours each. The Association
also made significant headway in the areas of photo and video use by the
Artist and by the Engager, particularly in respect of creating an
internet presence.

Equity members who are currently away from home or who have recently
moved and not yet updated their mailing address with the Association
should contact Equity's National Office for further information.

Any eligible voter who does not receive a ballot by May 26, 2010 is
encouraged to contact Equity's National Office for assistance.

In order to be sure your ballot is received in time to be counted, mail
your completed ballot not later than Thursday, June 10, 2010. Only
ballots received in Equity's national office prior to 5:00 p.m. EST on
Thursday, June 24 will be counted. 

Results will be announced as soon as possible after the ballot count on
Friday, June 25, 2010.
