Additional information:
Angelwalk Theatre is looking for 2 males and 2 females of all ages and
backgrounds for its March-April, 2011 production of Songs for a New
World. Directed by Andrew Lamb, Music Directed by Anthony Bastianon.
Applicants should be extremely strong singers/actors. Performers must
be versatile, capable of a variety of musical styles including
pop/contemporary musical theatre. There is a significant amount of
four-part harmony in the show. Strong harmony singing is required.
Songs for a New World is Jason Robert Brown's first musical and one of
his most popular and most performed musical theatre works. It is a show
about beginnings - from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a
ledge 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, we meet a startling array of
characters ranging from a young man who has determined that basket-ball
is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich
nabs her the man of her dreams and a soulless marriage.
Character Breakdown:
Man #1 - D to High C
Man #2 - Low F to High A flat
Woman #1 - Low G to High F (2 octaves)
Woman #2 - Low F to High F (2 octaves)
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
