Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:
RED LETTERS is a historical musical reflecting the hardship of Chinese
Canadian immigrants in Vancouver in the 1920s.  It is important for
authenticity that Asian ethnicity is reflected in the characters and
actors of Chinese heritage is preferred but not mandatory.

Performance Dates Nov 26 - Dec 4 in Vancouver, Dec 30 - Jan 8, 2011 in
Richmond and Jan 12 - 16, 2011 in Victoria.  Evening & Weekend day
rehearsals only, from Oct 26 - Nov 21 and on Dec 21, 22, & 23 

Auditions will be booked for Tuesday, Sep 21 from 5pm - 9pm.

Please email resume and photo to producer at vact.ca.  Prepare 32 bars of a
song and a 1 minute monologue.  Piano accompaniment will be provided.

Casting for 2 characters:

LIANG          
18 years old Asian male, young and idealistic, a dreamer

LO WONG
Boss' best friend in Vancouver, 50 years old Asian male
(age makeup may be used)

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
