Ahuri Theatre is holding auditions for its upcoming production of A
Fool's Life at the Theatre Centre in Toronto.  We are searching for male
actors who can speak Japanese.  We require actors with strong skills in
movement and experience in creating original work.  Those selected for
an audition will be asked to prepare a piece from the script. Send

A Fool's Life is an original multi-disciplinary theatre piece is based
on the life and short stories of modern Japanese author Ryunosuke
Akutagawa, one of the most celebrated modern Japanese writers, and best
known as the author of Rashomon.  The play tells the story of
Akutagawa's feverish mental deterioration in the last few days before
his death.  The piece uses movement, drumming, shadow puppetry and live
projections on a set made entirely of paper.  It will be presented at
the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre and the Theatre Centre in Toronto.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
