JANE-female, Caucasian, mid to late 30s, recently widowed with a child,
a poet, strong-willed, self-deprecating, baseball cap sexy, endearing,
managing to hold her life together, barely. Not sentimental.

MARRELL-female, African-American, mid to late 30s, Jazz writer and
singer, a new and unassured mother, married to TOM. Generally
dissatisfied but unable to make the move. Actor must be comfortable
singing and preferably plays piano.

TOM-male, Caucasian, late 30s to early 40s, married to MARRELL, a
craftsperson, new and would-be-attentive father in late 20th century
(waspish) way. Appears to be down to earth but is constantly dodging
reality, conflicted

ALAN-male, Jewish, gay, late 30s to early 40s, self-interested, funny,
frustrated, dangerously close to a mid-life crisis, contradictory,
caustic. "What should I do with my life?" kind of guy

JEAN PIERRE- male, native French speaker, early to mid 40s, works for
Doctors without Borders, stereotypical French sexiness and knows it, has
no patience for trivial concerns, arrogant without being pretentious,
likes being the outsider

Selected canidates will be asked to prepare sides from the play.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
