Hiding Words (for you) by Gein Wong
Directed by Esther Jun

Eventual Ashes presents Hiding Words (for you), which delves into nushu,
a secret language that Chinese women created when they were not allowed
to read or write.  Set in China during its biggest 19th Century
rebellion, and a modern Canada, where national security has reached a
heightened state, this play examines the relationship between two women
connected through space and time, following their pursuits to influence
social change. 

Rehearsals start Aug 21st, 2012.
Production runs Sept 13-23 at Enwave Theatre

Characters:  
1. Wing-Yin: Asian woman early 20s, idealistic, yet naive, with a
rebellious side, 1850s Southern China.

2. Blackberry: Asian woman 20s-30s, a wacky yet somehow serious
contemporary Hong Kong performance artist who attended international
school.   

Note: both characters are played by the same actor.

Actors will read sides, sing a prepared a cappella song and perform
impromptu movement (music provided).  15 minute individual calls.
  
Union and non-union actors will be auditioned, note union status.
