Synopsis and Show Details: The Rock Opera TOMMY, which was first performed by The Who in 1969, was originally conceived by  Peter Townshend and Kit Lambert with contributions to the development by John Entwistle, Keith Moon  and Roger Daltrey. The album was then adapted for the screen in collaboration with Ken Russell.  Townshend then went on to collaborate with Broadway veteran Des McAnuff to adapt it again for the stage. The musical opened at La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, California in July 1992. The Broadway debut was at the St. James Theatre on 22 April 1993.

The plot of the show follows young Tommy (at ages 4, 10, and 18+) who, after witnessing the traumatic death of his mother's lover through a reflection in a mirror, is struck deaf, dumb, and blind by the events. After his parents try many clinical ways of reaching him it is discovered that he has a natural talent for playing pinball and he rises to fame playing stadiums and challenging top players. Despite Tommy's fame his parents continue to search for a cure for his condition until one night, weak and angry at her failure, his mother smashes the mirror and the traumatic effects are lifted. Able to again hear, see, and speak Tommy's followers look to him as a messianic figure who has been miraculously cured. Tommy however is unable to provide them with an easy road to spirituality that they seek and his fame is then short lived.

Casting Requirements:
All cast require basic movement ability and light dance skills
Please Note: ALL CHARACTERS WILL BE CAST WITH PERFORMERS AGES 16 AND UP WITH THE EXCEPTION OF 4 YEAR OLD AND 10 YEAR OLD TOMMY
