Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: Carousel

Additional information:
This is a new play by Thomas Morgan Jones. The contract is for a TYA
school tour in the Niagara region with a few venue performances.
Carousel Players hires adult actors to play all of the roles. Actors
will be asked to prepare sides.

Storyline: Eight year old Ruby is moving to the big city with her Mamma.
When Mamma starts getting sick, Ruby and her new friend Ella decide to
get to the bottom of whatever it is that is making Mamma sick. Deep
down, Ruby fears that she may be the cause of Mamma's illness.

Ruby: An adult actor to play 8 year old Ruby. Ruby is imaginative, smart
and perceptive enough to know Mamma is hiding something from her. Ruby
is willing to do anything to make her Mamma better.
Mamma: Mamma works very hard to provide a good life for Ruby and to stay
on top of everything. She tries to shield her daughter from the truth of
her disease.
Ella: An adult actor to play Ruby's new friend, a self-identified expert
in magical creatures and monsters. Ella believes in always having a plan
and doing things by the book.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
