Additional information:
Auditions are by appointment only. Please prepare a classical and a
contemporary monologue, no longer than 1.5 minutes each. Shaw pieces are
welcome. Actors should also be prepared for a short improvisation.
Special consideration will be given to artists with physical, dance,
clown and mask training/background.

Shaw's satire takes place in Bulgaria, during the 1885 Serbo-Bulgarian
war. An enemy solder finds harbour from attack in the bedroom of Raina,
the aristocratic daughter of Bulgarian Major, Paul Petkoff. Despite her
imminent marriage to Major Saranoff, Raina is emotionally moved by the
soldier. When Raina's father and betrothed return from their victory, a
tale unfolds of deception, love, mistaken identities, conflicting
beliefs and personal desires.

Characters:

Raina - female 20-30: vigorous and excitable, yet passionate and
cunning.

Captain Bluntschli - male 30-35: energetic, practical and strategic, yet
socially oblivious.

Major Paul Petkoff- male 50-65: boisterous, gullible, boastful and
self-absorbed.

Catherine Petkoff - female 40-50: affectionate, authoritative, haughty
and sly.

Major Sergius Saranoff - male 25-30: passionate, narcissistic, and
impulsive.

Louka (the Petkoffs' maid) - female 18-20: proud, ambitious, frivolous,
flirty, and bold.

Nicola (the Petkoffs' butler) - male 30-45: submissive, inconspicuous,
yet calculated.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
