Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:

The Days of Wine & Roses Project welcomes culturally and physically
diverse actors, however the mandate and requirements for this production
are that the cast be made up of Artists who are currently actively
engaged in a 12 Step Recovery Program, and are grateful and OPEN about
their recovery. 

Production opens Saturday May 9th, runs through Saturday May 23rd, at
Hart House Theatre, Toronto.

Submissions for casting being accepted for "Days of Wine and Roses" by
JP Miller. Director Jeff Peller; Producer Renascent; Production Manager
Lorraine Johnson. 

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN: 

JOE CLAY: mid 30's-early 40's: "Joe is 36, medium height, dark rather
handsome"

KIRSTEN ARNESEN CLAY: late 20's-early 30's: "She is noticeable for her
simple soft radiant blondness. She can't be more than 25, but has the
appearance of amazing self sufficiency which some women seem to be born
with" ***the actor playing Kirsten MUST be able to turn tears on and off
like a faucet - emotional range is critical. 

ELLIS ARNESEN:(Kirsten's father): "He is rough-hewn 60"

JIM HUNGERFORD: (Joe's AA Sponsor): "Jim is 60, florid faced, snow
capped mountain of a man"

MOLLY HUNGERFORD: (Jim's wife):50-60

MRS. NOLAN (the Clay's neighbour) 40-50

ADDITIONAL CHARACTERS:
10+ Men (30's-70's)
5-10 Women (20's-50's)
8 year old girl

audition. 

Please prepare one contemporary monologue not more than 2 min. Those
auditioning for Joe or Kirsten please choose very emotional monologue to
exhibit emotional range and vulnerability. 

You may also be asked to cold read from script. 

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity
members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of
contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the
audition.
