ONTARIO MEMBER ADVISORY - HEALTH & SAFETY AWARENESS TRAINING

The Government of Ontario will now require all workers (employees and independent contractors) to take Health and Safety Awareness Training in accordance with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act. 

Equity members have until July 1, 2014 to complete FREE online training (https://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/hs/elearn/worker/index.php). This mandatory training applies to all performers, directors, choreographers, fight directors and stage managers working in live performance in Ontario.

The straightforward online learning module "Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps" takes 45 - 60 minutes to complete. When finished, you will receive a "Proof of Completion" certificate. This certificate will be required for all workers in Ontario when the regulation comes into full force on July 1, 2014. Save a copy of your certificate before exiting the module as proof of training completion.

Equity encourages all members resident in Ontario (or planning to work in the province) to complete this training as soon as possible. Members should be prepared to submit a printed or electronic copy of their certificate to an engager upon request.
