Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre encourages submissions from artists of all diverse backgrounds This audition is open to artists of both genders and all ethnicities.
Additional information: Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre in Victoria, BC, will be holding auditions by appointment for Pal Joey, the musical with book by John O'Hara and music and lyrics by Rogers and Hart. Direction by AD Brian Richmond, music direction by Don Horsburgh, choreography by Tara Britt.
Auditions in Victoria, BC, will take place on November 8th and 9th, 2014. Auditions in Vancouver, BC, will take place on November 10th, 2014.
Rehearsals start June 23, 2015. Performance dates run July 7 - July 26th, 2015, with possible extension until August 2nd, 2015. CAEA Independent Theatre Agreement.

For the audition, please prepare a 2 minute comedic monologue (20th century American preferred) plus 32 bars from the song assigned to the character of your choice. The Theatre will provide an accompanist. For the callbacks, please be dressed to move.
Joey Evans
A small-time womanizing MC and dancer/singer who has dreams of opening his own night club, 20's/30's. Prepare "I Could Write A Book" from the show.
Vera Simpson
A bored rich socialite, 40's,50's. Prepare "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" from the show.
Linda English
A dancer at the Hot Box, late teens/20's. Prepare "My Funny Valentine" from Babe in Arms by Rogers and Hart.
Melba Snyder
An ambitious reporter, doubles as Hot Box girl, dancer singer, 20's. Prepare "Zip" from the show.
Gladys Bumps
A cynical dancing/singing chorus girl who takes an instant dislike to Joey, 30's. Prepare "Zip" from the show.
Ludlow Lowell, Mike the Club Owner and various A crooked "artists representative", singer/dancer, 30's/40's, versatile character actor. Prepare a Rogers and Hart song of your choice.
Hot Box Dancers
Sing/Dance, These characters are female, 20's. Prepare "Chicago" from the show.
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract. CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
