EQUITY COUNCIL ELECTS OFFICERS FOR THE 2015-2018 TERM

The inaugural meeting of Equity's new national Council was held November
29 to December 1, 2015. Council elected the following slate of Equity
officers at its meeting earlier today.

* Council President: Allan Teichman, Councillor for Ontario. The President
serves as Council's Chief Governance Officer and is tasked with enabling
and maintaining Council's good governance. Allan may be contacted at

* First Vice-President: Katey Wright, Councillor for British Columbia and
the Yukon. The 1st Vice-President serves as coordinator for Council's
advisory committees, and as the chair of the Council Education and Renewal

* Second Vice-President: Sedina Fiati, Councillor for Ontario. The 2nd
Vice-President serves as Council's member liaison as the chair of the

* Secretary/Treasurer: Scott Bellis, Councillor for British Columbia and
the Yukon. The Secretary/Treasurer chairs the Finance Monitoring
Committee, ensures the integrity of Council's documents and certifies that

Equity's Council for 2015-2018 is comprised of 22 Councillors from 13
regions across Canada, and meets 10 times per year to handle governance of
the Association on behalf of its members.
