Position for Coordinator of wîcêhtowin - Aboriginal Theatre Program
The Department of Drama in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2015.
The successful candidate will serve as Coordinator of our new two-year Certificate program in Aboriginal Theatre, to be launched in September, 2015. The Coordinator will need extensive teaching and theatrical experience, especially in embedding Aboriginal performance and story-telling methodologies into university curricula. Administrative experience will be essential, including successful establishment of Aboriginal theatrical initiatives, knowledge of funding agencies and opportunities, and a record of liaison roles with First Nations communities. In addition, the successful candidate will share fully in all aspects of the life and work of the Department. The candidate should be well-versed in standard approaches to actor training (e.g. Stanislavski, Chekhov, Meisner, Viewpoints). Experience in directing would be an asset.
wîcêhtowin - Aboriginal Theatre Program is an innovative new certificate program designed to strengthen the department's interdisciplinary connections with other university units engaged in Indigenous educational, cultural and artistic outreach; enhance its already-strong community and professional partnerships; and enrich department programming on all levels.
