THE RIVALS

Note: age ranges apply to the characters, not the actors.

British dialect (RP) needed for all characters except where noted
otherwise.

Looking for actors who have a facility with text, a strong comic sense,
and an excellent British dialect.

LUCY, the scheming and resourceful maid of Mrs. Malaprop. Doubles with
DAVID, timid and devoted valet to Bob Acres. 20s. 

MISS LYDIA LANGUISH, a romantic and sentimental young lady of fashion.
20s.

MISS JULIA MELVILLE, Lydia's kind, sincere and patient friend.  20s.

SIR ANTHONY ABSOLUTE, a wealthy country gentleman of the old school.
40s-60s.

CAPTAIN JACK ABSOLUTE, dashing and handsome son to Sir Anthony.  20s.

FAULKLAND, Jack's friend and Julia's ever-anxious suitor.  20s.

BOB ACRES, a rustic young neighbor of the Absolutes, formal suitor to
Lydia.

LUCIUS O'TRIGGER, a bold and flamboyant American plantation owner.
Southern US dialect.
