diverse persons and peoples. We very strongly encourage submissions from
members of marginalized and underrepresented communities.
Additional information:
Seeking a brave and brilliant actor for ON TOP, a new play written and
directed by Daniel Karasik that will have a short run at Tarragon Theatre's
upstairs studio from March 15-23.
ON TOP was the winner of the 2015 Safe Words Playwriting Contest.
The play is mostly a two-hander; the role is huge.
LISA, late 20s-30s. Ethno-culturally or racially diverse. A scholar and
writer, first for a neoconservative think-tank and now freelance. The child
of Alberta oil money. Almost always the smartest person in the room. Tough
and demanding. Sexually and psychologically dominant with her husband, who
served in Iraq (they live in America) and now works as a management
consultant, and with whom she has a young daughter.
The play is non-linear, sometimes poetic, often anti-dramatic,
philosophically and politically challenging. It's a meditation on power:
military, economic, sexual. Anyone interested in the part is invited and
requested to read the full script before auditioning.
Rehearsals will be flexibly scheduled in the 2-3 weeks before the run. The
production is a collective dividing profits equally between members.
While we thank all applicants for their interest, only those selected for an
audition will be contacted.
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
