Persephone Theatre encourages submissions from artists of all diverse
backgrounds.
Additional information:
Auditions will be held in Saskatoon. Contract dates: Aug 19 to Sept 18 with
a possible extension to Oct 2. You must be available for ALL dates.
Please read the script beforehand. Scripts and sides will be made available
through the theatre. For detailed character descriptions, please see

Please be prepared to showcase your singing voice, either unaccompanied or
self-accompanied, in a roots/country style. Candidates are encouraged to
listen to the music of Fred Eaglesmith and present either a song by Fred or
something in the same musical ballpark.
Please also be prepared to demonstrate your proficiency on a musical
instrument appropriate to the genre, e.g. guitar, mandolin, fiddle, bass,
percussion, piano, banjo, lap steel etc. There will be a piano in the room,
and an accompanist will be provided. (Reading from a score is not a
necessity, but the parts are all notated.)
Roles:
McAllister, 65, a farmer and publisher of a small town newspaper
Johnny, 40ish, a farmer
Caroline, 30ish, a farmer
Mike, 30ish, a land speculator (also plays other characters)
Ensemble/Musician/Singer (female or male), a non-speaking role, primarily
part of the band, also sings.
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
