supports performance works emanating from Black and other Diasporic
Communities in Canada. Our Toronto-based theatre company focuses on
developing and producing material often only seen outside of mainstream
and even contemporary alternative venues.

Artistic Director. The Artistic
Director will provide clearly articulated planning for programming,
training and community outreach
in keeping with the organization's mandate to develop, promote and produce
works primarily from
black and other artists of colour.

• Reflecting current cultural atmosphere through performing arts and

Job Description:
The Artistic Director is responsible for conceiving, developing, and
implementing the artistic focus of the organization. The AD will report to
the Board of Directors, work with the Executive Committee and Artistic
Producer/General Manager to enhance the organization's programming, which
includes a biennial festival and seasonal training programs.
This position is currently a part-time one-year contract with the
possibility of renewal and transition to full-time role. In addition to
daily responsibilities associated with this position, the Artistic
Director will be required to adapt to the needs of this vibrant and
growing organization. There are periods leading up to festivals and other
programs that may from time to time require full-time commitment; and
occasional evening and weekend commitments in the form of board and
committee meetings (typically weeknights or weekends), public events, and
networking opportunities.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
· Planning and implementing annual programming and training
· Developing communications plan with staff
· Soliciting and reviewing proposals/submissions from artists
· Developing partnerships with artists and organizations locally,
nationally and internationally
· Work with staff and board to secure funding from arts councils,
sponsors, funders and private donors
· Contributing to the development of the annual budget
· Acting as a spokesperson for the organization
· Reporting to the Board of Directors regularly to present program and
financial updates.

Requirements
Qualifications:
· Minimum of 2 years experience programming in an arts organization
setting;
· Proven ability to complete successful grant applications within
deadline;
· Knowledge of the Canadian theatre landscape particularly the Toronto
theatre community;
· 3-5 years experience in not-for-profit organization or equivalent
training and experience;
· Superior communication, project management, and organizational skills;
· Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively and collegially;
· Experience working with volunteer boards and committees is an asset;
· Commitment to artistic initiatives and willingness to engage the public;
