Eastern Front Theatre is seeking actors for Lullaby: Inside The Halifax
Explosion, by Karen Bassett.
Eastern Front Theatre has partnered with Neptune Theatre's Theatre School to
send Lullaby on a 4 week, Nova Scotia TYA tour (contract March 6 - April 13,
2017.)
The play will be remounted as part of EFT's 'Mainstage' season to coincide
with the 100th anniversary of the Halifax explosion (contract November 7 -
December 10, 2017.)
Halifax-based actors ONLY will be considered for the role of 'Greer
MacNeil.'
Artists will be contracted for both contracts at the same time.
Characters
Edward Arnold, 61. Baptist. Black. Of Africville. A cooper for Maritime
Brewing and Malting Company. A craftsman. Compassionate, protective, and
socially intelligent. Married. English speaking. A fifth generation Nova
Scotian.
Genevieve Tomah, 15 . Catholic. Mi’ Kmaw. Of Tufts Cove. A student and
entrepreneur. A crafter of hockey sticks. Impulsive, ingenious, and
outspoken. She lives with her Mother and father and little sister. Mi’kmaw,
English, and French speaker. An indigenous Nova Scotian.
Greer MacNeil, 50. Protestant. Caucasian. Of Richmond. A nurse at the
Protestant orphanage. Disciplined, authoritarian, and scientific. She is a
widow with a son serving in WW1. English speaking. A fourth generation
Canadian.
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
