Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement:
Axis Theatre Company is committed to diversity in its casting. We are
specifically looking for actors from the Indigenous communities to play
multiple characters. Preference will be given to those performers living in
Vancouver.

AXIS THEATRE COMPANY in collaboration with FULL CIRCLE: FIRST NATIONS
PERFORMANCE is holding auditions for the workshop production of TH’OWXIYA -
THE HUNGRY FEAST DISH by Joseph A. Dandurand.

TH’OWXIYA: THE HUNGRY FEAST DISH (A Play in Mask) by Joseph A. Dandurand is
based on a Kwantlen First Nations legend.

We will be holding auditions in Vancouver. We encourage actors of Indigenous
backgrounds to apply. We expect to cast artists who are proficient actors,
singers. Each performer will also use physical theatre skills and be
responsible for movement, puppet manipulation and mask work.

SYUWE/SHXWLA:M A seer/Indian Doctor, one who can forecast the future
SASQ’ETS/XA:LS: Sasquatch/The transformer
KW’AT’EL: Mouse
GIRL: THEQA:T (tree), SPA:TH (bear)
BOY: THEQA:T (tree), SPA:TH (bear)

Artistic Director or casting persons in attendance: Chris McGregor,

PREPARATION:
Those selected for an audition will be asked to prepare a scene from the
show and to prepare one song acapella of your choice.

Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
