Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: Thick and Thin
Theatre is committed to diverse inclusive casting. For this production
performers who are or appear to be of middle eastern, north or east African
heritage with strong singing skills are encouraged to apply.

Paul O'Sullivan Award winner for best script for a new musical 2017 Toronto
Fringe. Two sisters struggle to survive amid contemporary civil war. Their
home bombed, their family killed, the only thing of value left is their
mother's jewelry, enough to barter for passage to freedom - for one. A
musical tragedy.

Saleet: sister, naïve, mezzo to G, late teens - early 20s
Mara: sister, take charge character, alto to G, late teens - early 20s
Manu: an electrician fleeing conscription, impetuous, tenor to G, 20s
Tobim: resistance fighter/terrorist, tough, baritone to E flat, 20s
Zaydal/Fredo/Gregor/Judge: multiple roles, baritone to F, late 20s - 30s
Helen/Policewoman/Bahati: multiple roles, alto/mezzo to G, late 20s - 30s
Successful applicants will be asked to perform a song of their choice, a
contemporary dramatic monologue, and are asked to prepare a song from the
show (sheet music and rehearsal mp3s provided). An accompanist will be
provided.
Please submit picture and resume along with character applying for and
preferred audition time.
Under CAEA Festival Policy both union and non-union performers are eligible
for consideration.
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
