Ethno-cultural mandate or ethno-cultural casting statement: Shakespeare in
Action is committed to maintaining a roster that represents the diversity of
our city and we encourage applications from anyone and everyone with a
passion for Shakespeare and Hip Hop.

Additional information:
Shakespeare in Action is calling for submissions by actors with experience
and talents in Rap, Hip Hop, and Shakespeare to take part in our new
Shakespeare Hip Hop Fusion Youth Performance Program.

Applicants selected for the Shakespeare/Hip Hop Fusion Youth Performance
Program will be a part of a pioneering new program in association with the
Toronto Public Library. Participants will serve as instructors and mentors
to youth aged 13-17, helping to teach Shakespearean text, rap, hip hop
dance, and/or spoken word. Over the course of six Wednesday nights (from May
3rd - June 5th) Artist/Educators will guide youth in at-risk neighbourhoods
in creating their own performance pieces - blending old and new influences
to tell their own stories.

Applicants are asked to prepare two contrasting pieces to present at the
interview. Pieces may be a Shakespearean Monologue *or* a rap *or* a piece
of spoken word poetry *or* a song in the hip hop genre.

Interviews will be held on Thursday March 23rd and Friday March 24th (though
accommodations may be made if these dates are impossible).
