Additional information:
For our 2017 season production of “Mary Poppins”, we are looking to cast the
role of GEORGE BANKS.
GEORGE BANKS (late 30s - early 40s), is an archetypal Englishman. Pompous
and proud, he is an insecure soul who worries so much about his job as
provider to his family that he has forgotten how much he loves them... or at
least he has forgotten how to show them he loves them. Although this is not
a comedy role, we are looking for a warm and engaging actor who can find the
heart and the humour in this complex character. All his actions to the
contrary, George loves his wife and children very much. He just has trouble
believing they love him. His emotional armour conceals a sensitive soul. He
is very "typically English", and the ability to carry off an English accent
is essential, as is an understanding of English mannerisms. A baritone,
George may speak-sing as necessary.
**Local (Greater Vancouver Area) actors only.
**Please submit headshot and resume via e-mail to Audition Coordinator Nelli
Hanbury (tuts.auditions at gmail.com). The TUTS team will contact candidates
directly to arrange an audition date and time.
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
CAEA members: please bring your membership card to the audition.
