A new theatre company dedicated to the encouragement of artistic achievement
and the protection of the rights of psychiatric survivors. MadPower is an
equal opportunity employer. We produce original work with a professional
performance company offering Equity contracts, a training program. We do not
believe in “ ghettoizing”, all levels of participation in performance and
administration combine survivors and non- survivors working together,
believing that integration is the only effective means of eradicating
stigma.

MadPower Theatre – A new theatre company dedicated to the encouragement of
artistic achievement and the protection of the rights of psychiatric
survivors. We welcome you for an exciting opportunity to help build the
administrative foundation for a new not-for-profit, professional arts
organization. MadPower Theatre is looking for an administrative director who
will join the company as a third incorporating director and Administrative
Director. (Salary to be determined.)
Founding members
Miles Cohen is a psychiatric survivor with 40 years of performing and
directing experience. A graduate of the Canadian Mime School and Playhouse
Acting School and has a B.A. in Drama from Bishop’s University. An alumnus
of The Second City Touring Company, a founding member and teacher at Kytes
youth theatre for street youth. Miles currently teaches at “Learn” a CAMH
day program as well as “Encore” a CAMH pilot program for patients on the
ward and is currently a member of Workman Arts; a CAMH based arts
organization.
Stephen LaFrenie has performed and co-created physical theatre for over 38
years. His training includes Ecole Jacques Lecoq, Mime School Unlimited,
Dean Gilmour, and Tony Montanaro. He has toured extensively across Canada,
to Spain, Australia, France, Hungary, Jamaica, and the U.S.
