DOROTHY MACFARLANE Age 31 in 1941. Married Jim, a miner at age 22. Recently
moved to Kirkland Lake from Timmins.
KAY CARSON Age 36 in 1941. Married 12 years to miner husband Bob.
Convent-educated Catholic. Irish background.
PAVLA “POPPY” CHYTUK Age 18 in 1941. Originally from a farm near Estevan,
Saskatchewan. Newlywed, to Danny, a Ukrainian Canadian miner and young hero
of the Estevan Coal Miners’ Strike.
CECILLE GAUTHIER Age 51 in 1941. Originally from the Lac St. Jean region of
Quebec. Mother of 9 (7 sons, 2 daughters; Married to Alphonse for 32 years.
Please submit head shot and resume for consideration. Only those considered
for an audition will be contacted. All roles are available.
Auditions will be approximately 1 hour with an opportunity for each
candidate to present one monologue followed by group readings from the
script (up to 4 actors each hour). For the monologue, please prepare a North
American piece up to 3 minutes in length from a contemporary or period play.
Performers whose work is well known to David may choose not to do a
monologue. Equity members cast in this production will be engaged under and
Equity form of contract.
Equity members will be seen first at all open audition calls. Equity members
cast in this production will be engaged under an Equity form of contract.
