Hello,
Does anyone have any details yet on the extent of the recent find of Emerald ash borer in the Montérégie area of Quebec reported by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency?
The apparent jump from the vicinity of Toronto to this new area near Montreal has raised the issue with municipal foresters in the Maritimes. While it was previously a very distant problem, the recent find near Montreal moves it over halfway to northern New Brunswick in a single step.
I understand that concerned New Brunswick municipal officials will be meeting with CFIA and others shortly to discuss ways to limit human-assisted movement (domestic movement) of this pest into new areas.
Regards,
Ken J. Harrison
