Society to Prevent Dutch Elm Disease (STOPDED)
Contract employment opportunities. STOPDED consists of municipal and
provincial government representatives and interested citizens who are
dedicated to prevent the establishment of Dutch elm disease and other exotic
pests on Alberta's landscape trees. Its operating budget is determined by a
combination of societal fund-raising and provincial grants.
PUBLIC RELATIONS COORDINATOR. Two year part time. Subject to satisfactory
performance and resource availability. April 1/09 to March 31, 2011.
. Administer and operate a preventive and awareness program on a
provincial level.
. Self starter willing to work with a board able to liaise with all
levels of government, industry and posses working knowledge of tree
disease/pests.
. Ability to travel.
. Expected to manage a fixed budget targeting and priorizing seasonably
sensitive activities
. TECHNICAL/SCIENTIFIC CONTRACTOR. Two years. Subject to satisfactory
performance and resource availability. April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2011.
. Work in conjunction with the Public Relations Coordinator and Society
executive .
. Responsible for operating the DED monitoring program and an exotic pest
survey.
. Qualified professional with strong skills in entomology and
communication.
Overall time allotment and timetable of operations is subject to program
needs and are negotiable with seasonal constraints.
