Susan,
There is a lot of information on the ecological value of hedgerows
available:
(1) Forman.2000.Environmental Management. Vol 8 (6):495-510
(2) Maudsley. 2000.Journal of Environmental Management
Volume 60, Issue 1, September 2000, Pages 65-76
(3) Hinsley & Bellamy.2000. Journal of Environmental Management.
60(1).2000
Forman can be downloaded of the web. The Vol. 60, Issue # 1 of the
Journal of Environmental Management 2000 is key as it specialised in
hedgerow ecology. The abstracts of each article can be viewed on-line,
and the full articles can be purchased as PDFs.
