This is great news Mike!
While I agree that a Saturday or Sunday would be ideal, particularly for encouraging student participation in various community events, having a distinctive National Tree Day as part of National Forest Week (whether it's on Wednesday or the weekend) shows the recognition we want for Urban Forestry at the national level.
Thanks,

Having said that, it would be sad to lose any ground on the gains Mike and others have made in securing recognition of the urban forest as a key part of Canada’s broader forest resource. So, I suggest we have our cake and eat it too: celebrate Arbour Day on its own day and celebrate the urban forest more broadly as part of National Forest Week.

It will also be a time for awareness – a chance for us to reflect on how protecting trees adds so much to our lives.
