Hi Michelle,
I would recommend contracting the services of a registered Kinesiologist to conduct an ergonomic assessment of the work practices.
We did this for our urban forestry operations back in 2003 and from the recommendations we developed safe work practices for all of our operations.

This exercise has drastically reduced musculoskeletal injury (MSI) injuries and claims for our section.

Our Human resources department helped out with the costs of hiring the Kinesiologist and as I recall it was not an expensive undertaking.

Hi all,
The Forestry Section in Saskatoon is working on documenting  Job Safety Analysis (JSA's)  and Safe Operating Procedures (SOP's) for the work we undertake in Forestry. This includes all our work on the maintenance side from pruning, stumping, assessing trees, etc.., as well as all our tasks in our planting and nursery operations. This is a large undertaking and I'm wondering if anyone has already been through this exercise and might have some documentation they would be willing to share that we could review as we undertake this job. We have many references related to the work we do in books and journals however an actual break down of each task step by step, the potential hazards, and the preventative measures is what I'm looking for.
