[CANUFNET] Canadian Urban Forest Conference (Laval 2016) what themes.

On the subject Canadian Urban Forest Conference (Laval 2016) what
themes? This would be a great time to review the work of of Gilles
Lemieux of Laval University and his research in the 80s and 90's on
Ramial Chipped Wood, Bois Raméal Fragmenté. Ramial Chipped Wood (RCW)
is hardwood chipped branches and twigs lay down as top mulch on a
variety of landscapes at that, only every 3 years. How has his claims
that RCW can boost soil fertility and replace fossil fuel inputs held up
over the decades? Why is francophone Europe the hotspot for RCW
operations and research now? Are there research and action links within
and outside Canada we can compare?

Good morning Virginie
A big concern and threat to our urban forests is invasive species
insects and plants in particular . Up to date science on on battling
these is needed as in many cases we do not hear what is being worked on.
 Have a good day. Jim

Thank you very much Jim, I note that and will come back to the program
committee. It will certainly be part of the program, but I will
highlight your concern about solutions, not just acknowledgment that it
is problematic!
Looking forward to meet you!
Virginie
