[CANUFNET] Green Infrastructure Ontario Coalition releases Urban Forest Call to Action

June 9, 2015 - The Green Infrastructure Ontario Coalition (GIO) issued a press release<http://www.greeninfrastructureontario.org/sites/greeninfrastructureontario.org/files/GIO%20UFCA%20Media%20Release%20682015.pdf> announcing the publication of 'Ontario's Urban Forests: Call to Action<http://www.greeninfrastructureontario.org/sites/greeninfrastructureontario.org/files/OUF%20Call%20to%20Action.pdf>' and sent a letter to the Premier of Ontario <http://www.greeninfrastructureontario.org/sites/greeninfrastructureontario.org/files/GIO%20Urban%20Forest%20-%20Letter%20to%20the%20Premier.pdf> urging her to support our province's urban forests.

All levels of government, non-profit organizations, community groups and businesses must play a role in protecting and growing Ontario's urban forests. Coordination and collaboration is imperative, and for this reason, GIO has developed a Call to Action for Ontario's urban forests. This process has established consensus around key actions the province should take to support urban forests. We collectively agree that the province needs to take a leadership role in developing a province-wide urban forest strategy and facilitating urban forest knowledge transfer.
