As you may know, NYC Dept. of Parks and Recreation launched TreesCount! 2015, an initiative to map and collect information on every street tree in New York City. They collaborated with thousands of citizen volunteers to gather high-quality data on over 600,000 trees and then incorporate that data into Parks' operational database to inform future planting and management initiatives.

Jacqueline Lu, the Director of Data Analytics at NYC Parks, will discuss how NYC Parks developed and conducted TreesCount! 2015. Our OpenTreeMap Product Manager, Deborah Boyer will also describe the software used to gather the data and how digital tools can assist with large-scale urban forestry data collection.
