*Residential Planting Programs Manager – Seven month contract (maternity
leave)*
LEAF is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the protection and
enhancement of the urban forest. Our community-based programs seek to
engage residents as active urban forest stewards through accessible,
on-the-ground programs. We are currently seeking an experienced manager
to oversee our Residential Planting Programs. This seven-month contract
will cover a maternity leave. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional
organizational and inter-personal skills, creative problem-solving
abilities, excellent writing skills and a demonstrated passion for the
urban forest.
The lists below outline the major tasks; however additional tasks may be
assigned as needed.
*Program and partnership development (35%)*
Undertake strategic planning for the program
Write reports for funding partners
Meet with funding partners to share program results
Provide research and writing support for funding proposals
Develop partnerships with other organizations/groups
Develop new business opportunities
Create and implement yearly marketing and promotional plan
Participate in organizational development (strategic planning, program
development)
*Operations Management (55%)*
Ensure all deliverables are met
Create and implement a yearly operational plan for all activities
Manage all field and office operations
Cost/benefit analysis of program activities
Hire, supervise and evaluate staff
Provide regular support/guidance and ensure productivity of staff
Ensure highest quality of customer service
Devise and supervise systems for data collection and research
Ensure accuracy of client database, invoicing, inventory, etc.
Request office volunteers and provide training and supervision as needed
Coordinate and manage program-related interns, consultants and contractors
Oversee all office administration
Ensure adequate safety procedures are in place and followed
Supervise underground locates process
Oversee content for all educational and promotional materials
Monitor and update website content
Monitor and evaluate program success
Update procedural manuals as needed
*Education and Outreach (10%)*
Develop and implement marketing plans
Promote programs at events as needed
Speak at workshops, talks and events as needed
*Qualifications*
- University degree in urban forestry, non-profit management,
environmental studies or related field
- Minimum four years’ experience working in the non-profit sector in
leadership positions
- Deep knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to urban forest issues
- Experience hiring and managing staff in a team environment
- Ability to determine priorities, adhere to deadlines and multi-task
- Attention to detail and superior organization skills
- Superior interpersonal skills and demonstrated success in relationship
management
- Superior communication skills including presenting to groups
- Excellent writing skills and experience writing project proposals,
reports, articles and blogs
- Creative problem solving skills
- Demonstrated initiative, creativity and drive to succeed
- Experience in public outreach/education and creative ideas for
marketing community-based programs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Access is required
Full time position (35-40 hrs/week). Compensation commensurate with
experience. Reports to the Program Manager.
