Calling all Urban Forest Leaders!

The purpose of this message is to gauge your interest in attending the exciting, Municipal Forestry Institute (MFI)<http://www.urban-forestry.com/mfi-2016>, scheduled to be delivered next year for the first time in Canada as part of Canada's 150th anniversary!

The Society of Municipal Arborists, the ISA's professional affiliate for those working in municipal forestry, has been molding future leaders with its heralded MFI.  Since 2006, over 500 men and women have graduated from the course - this includes many CANUFNET colleagues who have travelled to the U.S to enroll in this career changing, week-long leadership training opportunity.  The main themes of the Institute are: 1) Developing a leadership approach to your position, 2) Growing and enhancing an urban forestry program, 3) Strategic planning and Urban Forest Management Plans, 4) Working effectively with boards, commissions, committees, and coalitions, and 5) Managing the relationship between people and trees.

Conditional upon sufficient enrolment, the MFI will be delivered as a week long course, in the fall of 2017 in southern Ontario. Registration for the course is expected to cost approximately $2,100CAD (travel not included). This registration fee includes all course instruction and materials, all meals, and five nights' lodging. The course is being co-sponsored by Tree Canada.  It is expected that registration will begin in early 2017.
