 Dear colleagues,

Maria Toledo a Ph.D. student ( on a stipend from the Mexican government) selected to do her PhD work in Canada and transfer our Urban and Peri-Urban knowledge, research and practical experience to Latin America. Her Ph.D. in urban forestry (UF) , at the Faculty of Forestry University of Toronto, is specifically related to modeling and mapping urban biotopes, projecting their canopy and ecological goods and services potentials.

Maria's research work combines traditional field methods and tree measurements , along with use of remotely sensed images and spatial information.

Her study area is her home town - Mexico City, where she also envisions building an urban forestry research program and UF movement .

Maria is starting her field sampling in January 2017 , but her stipend is not enough to fully support her field work , and she is trying new ways ( listed below) of supporting her research:

a) If you have any equipment that is of no use to you , but that is still in good shape and that could survives 2 field seasons , please contact at Maria at m.toledo.garibaldi at mail.utoronto.ca<mailto:m.toledo.garibaldi at mail.utoronto.ca> (e.g. old gps units, DBh tapes, hypsometers , compass, calipers, field wests, ...)

a) If you could and would like to support her research please see the links below.
