Dear Canadian Urban Forest Network Members,

I am writing you because of my interest in the green planning of your city.

I am an Italian student from the University of Padua, currently pursuing an
exchange semester at the University of British Columbia, under the
supervision of *Dr Matilda van den Bosch*.

We are involved in a larger Canadian research consortium CANUE
<http://canue.ca/> - Canadian Urban Environmental Health Research
Consortium. As part of this project, we aim to investigate the impact of
urban green spaces on human health. We know that most Canadian cities and
municipalities own local data on, for example, street trees and parks,
sometimes even including tree species and measures of canopy cover and
alike. We aim to create a database where this information is included, to
simply see what data exist in Canada, and if there are differences between
coverage and accessibility between cities.

Therefore, I would like to ask you if you might be willing to kindly
provide me with the following information:

- What data does your city/municipality have in terms of
vegetation coverage?

- In what shape are these data stored?

- Are these data freely accessible (for the public or for the
research community) and under what terms?

I would sincerely appreciate your help with this information by 10/31/2017;
it would benefit the CANUE-project substantially and ultimately contribute
to healthier cities in Canada.

Please do not reply all, please contact me directly at:
matteo.andreani at studenti.unipd.it

Many thanks,

Andreani Matteo
