[CANUFNET] Plant Appraisal Guide 10th Edition

I strongly advise all to make themselves familiar with the 10th edition as it is backed by ISA, ASCA and all the members of CTLA. It is fine to make some slight deviations as long as they can be proven. However now the 8th and 9th edition have now become redundant. I speak with experience as I chaired the ISAO RPAC for 10 years from 2008 to 2018.

Hi all

My understanding is that this is a guide to give you information on different processes used in appraisal. As long as we as professionals use logical and concise calculations we should be able to use any of the guides to come up with the final product.

Thank you

Greetings all et Bonjour à tous,

And thanks Peter and the Ontario chapter for looking into what our options are, moving forward with landscape plant appraisal in Canada.

Should anyone be interested in working on an English to French translation feasibility committee with the Quebec chapter of the ISA, kindly contact me directly. I'm very interested in exploring this project and updating the Quebec guide. We're still on the 8th edition (adapted in 1995)!

Merci and Thank you :)

Hello all,

I was fortunate enough to be able to attend this workshop at International this past weekend with the developers of the 10th. Lots of work has gone into the 10th and all are good.

I will be sharing my understanding shortly with the industry here in Ontario, and may be looking to form a small committee or working group for Ontario, and through ISA.

Stay tuned...

Thanks for the update.
Yes, I recall there were some concerns from industry representatives in Canada
when draft comments were requested.
I also seem to recall woodlot evaluation/management as part of the original
draft which will address expansion into other aspects of tree management.
Further the Species rating was tossed as well, in my recall of the draft.
Should be interesting on how this will be rolled out as many
municipalities/practitioners will have to review their protocols and set dates
for implementation as the older version has been in use for the last 18 years.
Wait and see......
