Good afternoon,
I am writing to let you know about the latest actions by a coalition of 4 groups in Ottawa around a continued strong desire to see a centenary elm tree on Parliament Hill celebrated and preserved. This is an urban tree of great significance.
Today's advocacy onslaught consists of
* a new press release <http://greenspace-alliance.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/PRESS-RELEASE-final-March-5.pdf>.
* a letter <http://greenspace-alliance.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Letter-to-Parliamentarians-final.pdf> to members of a House of Commons Committee, and the Speakers of House and Senate,
* an update to our online petition <http://bit.ly/2tNqcTY>, launched in early February. It now has 225 signatures. We're hoping this push today will get signatures up to 500.
Your support is welcome: it's as simple as forwarding the petition link to colleagues, friends and family across Canada.
*On a related topic: * I'd like to know how many people on this listserv would be interested in having a national listserv for advocacy issues around trees? Please write to me directly if you're interested in pursuing this. I've been talking with folks on Vancouver Island who floated the idea. I think it's a good idea. If enough people are interested, we can perhaps make it happen.
best wishes, Debra
