2019: A Year in Review at Tree Canada
from Danielle, CEO
2019 was quite the year here at Tree Canada! As we head into 2020, a new year and a new decade, we know the time and need for trees is more apparent now than ever. As we take stock to reflect on some of the accomplishments we achieved – because of your continued and dedicated support – we are excited by what the future holds.

Is Red Seal right for Arborists?
For me, one of the most chilling memories of the 1998 Eastern Canada Ice Storm was watching a truck pull up to a clump of white birch on a resident’s front lawn, the “contractor” climbing into the bed of his truck to start his chainsaw (with no safety gear).

Last fall, Zachary came out to plant trees with his mother and us on National Tree Day<https://treecanada.ca/engagement-research/national-tree-day/>. He was so invested in the process of planting trees at the Ottawa Cahill Park that he felt compelled to do more. His parents had always encouraged his sister and him to think of others and be kind to their environment.
He thought how he, a boy of nine, could do more. So, he donated close to $50 of his allowance to add more trees to our urban forests. He recently came to our office with his family to personally give his donation to Tree Canada and ask how it would be used. His family then made the trip back out to Cahill Park to visit ‘Red’, one of the trees he planted and named, to see how it was doing and give it a good luck wish to grow strong in 2020.
Help Zachary and Tree Canada plant more trees where they are needed the most in Canada.

FormID=5&LanguageID=2>
