Dear CANUFNET Listserv Subscribers,

We hope this message finds you in great spirits as we share the latest updates regarding the Canadian Urban Forest Network (CUFN).

1.               CUFN Engagement Strategy:

·        Tree Canada is currently developing a new engagement strategy to better serve the needs of urban forestry professionals. To help inform this strategy, we will soon share a survey with CANUFNET listserv subscribers to hear your thoughts and ideas.

2.                News and Opportunities:

·        2024 Canadian Urban Forest Conference: We are gearing up to open the Call for Submissions for next year’s Canadian Urban Forest Conference<https://treecanada.ca/research-engagement/canadian-urban-forest-conference/> in Winnipeg. Members of the urban forestry community will be invited to submit topics for individual presentations and panel discussions on the topic of equity in urban forestry. A separate email will follow in the next few weeks.

·        CUFN Steering Committee Update: We would like to thank Heather Fraser for her time on the CUFN Steering Committee and welcome Dr. Peter Duinker, as our newest representative for the Atlantic region.

·        Reminder to participate in our CIF E-Lecture Series: The Canadian Institute of Forestry and Tree Canada invite you to participate in an Urban Forestry E-Lecture Series (webinars) entitled "Equity and Urban Forests in Canada''. This series will be held on Thursdays, November 2nd, 9th, 30th and December 7th, 2023, at 1:30pm ET / 10:30am PT. To register: https://adobe.ly/2MycIEh

·        Urban Forest Think Tank: In October 2020, Tree Canada’s Director of Research and Engagement, Dr. Adrina C. Bardekjian, had the opportunity to participate in the Urban Forest Think Tank convened by the Canadian Forest Service. Participants included external collaborators as well as members from various federal government agencies. For your interest, the final reports from this initiative are attached in English and French.

It is an exciting time to be a part of CUFN, and we can't wait to embark on these journeys with you. Let's continue to share information, facilitate open discussion, and dialogue, and build community in urban forestry across Canada.

1.               Stratégie d'engagement du RCFU :

·         Arbres Canada développe actuellement une nouvelle stratégie d'engagement afin de mieux répondre aux besoins des professionnels de la foresterie urbaine. Afin de contribuer à cette stratégie, nous partagerons bientôt un sondage avec les abonnés du serveur de liste CANUFNET pour entendre vos pensées et vos idées.

2.                Nouvelles et opportunités :

·        Conférence canadienne sur la forêt urbaine 2024 : Nous nous préparons à lancer l'appel de soumissions pour la Conférence canadienne sur la forêt urbaine<https://arbrescanada.ca/recherche-et-engagement/conference-canadienne-sur-la-foret-urbaine/> de l'an prochain à Winnipeg. Les membres de la communauté de la foresterie urbaine seront invités à soumettre des sujets pour des présentations individuelles et des discussions de groupe sur le thème de l'équité en foresterie urbaine. Un courriel distinct suivra dans les prochaines semaines.

·        Mise à jour du Comité directeur du RCFU : Nous aimerions remercier Heather Fraser pour le temps qu'elle a passé au sein du Comité directeur du RCFU et souhaiter la bienvenue au Dr. Peter Duinker, en tant que nouveau représentant de la région de l'Atlantique.

·        Rappel de participer à la série de conférences électroniques de l'IFC : L'Institut forestier du Canada et Arbres Canada vous invitent à participer à une série de conférences électroniques (webinaires) sur la foresterie urbaine intitulée « L'équité et les forêts urbaines au Canada ». Cette série aura lieu les jeudis 2, 9, 30 novembre et 7 décembre 2023, à 13h30 HE / 10h30 PT. Pour s'inscrire : https://adobe.ly/2MycIEh

·        Groupe de réflexion sur la forêt urbaine : En octobre 2020, la directrice de la recherche et de l'engagement d'Arbres Canada, Dr. Adrina C. Bardekjian, a eu l'occasion de participer au groupe de réflexion sur la forêt urbaine convoqué par le Service canadien des forêts. Les participants comprenaient des collaborateurs externes ainsi que des membres de divers organismes du gouvernement fédéral. Pour votre intérêt, les rapports finaux de cette initiative sont joints en anglais et en français.

C'est une période formidable pour faire partie du RCFU, et nous sommes impatients de nous embarquer dans ces projets avec vous. Continuons à partager de l'information, à faciliter les discussions ouvertes et le dialogue, et à bâtir une communauté dans le domaine de la foresterie urbaine à travers le Canada.
